Loyk Tsavo Camp is a relaxed lodge right by the Riverbank of the Athi River and invites you to experience some of nature’s greatest wildlife spectacles and the most stunning African wilderness areas with us. The intimate size of our properties and the remote location combined with personal service and exceptional guiding are the foundations of a luxury African safari with us.
This is a discerning destination for the world traveller offering a travel experience in its own right. Loyk Tsavo Camp is a destination rather than just a hotel and guests will leave having experienced one of the most memorable adventures one can imagine.
Combining architectural hints of traditional homesteads with interior borrowed from the coast region. Loyk Tsavo Camp is a modern take on two established themes and the result is nothing short of incredible with all its ensuite thatched tents set on sandy paths.
Major attractions include Yatta plateau which is about 290 km long and is one of the world’s longest lava flows, Lugards Falls on the Galena River, this is not a true fall but a series of rapids. Visitors can walk down to the river to view rapids. Mudanda rock is a long rock outcrop that is about 1.6 km long with a Dam at its base. The Park is home to large herds of Elephants, Rhino, Buffalo, Lion, Leopard, Crocodile, Waterbuck, Kudu, Gerenuk, Zebra and Hunter’s hartebeest and prolific birdlife featuring 500 recorded bird species. Superbly situated in the lee of Mount Kilimanjaro and sheltered by the volcanic splendor of the Chyulu Hills, this classic stone-built safari lodge overlooks its own water hole, which is visited daily by elephants, buffalos and a wide variety of plains game.
One of the first safari lodges ever to be built in a park in Kenya, the lodge is cool, tranquil and hushed for optimum game-viewing. It is also ideally placed for visits to all Tsavo National Park’s prime attractions.
Faced in volcanic stone and utilizing the natural rocky outcrops of a valley known as ‘The place of the young rhino’, from which it takes its name, the lodge features a thatched central dining area and a rock-built bar, with a viewing terrace looking directly down on to the waterhole.
Our luxury accommodation includes a choice of spacious en-suite rooms, each with their own verandas, some overlooking the waterhole, some the Chyulu Hills, which are one of the world’s youngest volcanic ranges.
